Resveratrol for Muscle Growth

Over the past seven years, researchers have been studying the effects of resveratrol (3,4',5-trihydroxystilbene) on human physiology.

T Nation regulars already know that resveratrol, via its positive effects on inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, and oxidative stress can help prevent heart disease, stroke, and type-2 diabetes. Resveratrol is also a "caloric restriction mimetic," which means that by activating sirtuin 1 (SIRT1), it may just prolong lifespan in humans.

But I bet you didn't know that SIRT1 activation increases skeletal muscle precursor cell proliferation.

Translation...

Yes, it's a long shot, but if we can get enough resveratrol (or a few of its metabolically active dimers and tetramers) into our bloodstream at the right time, we might just be able to grow some more muscle.

This is one "supplement" I'm keeping a close eye on.
