Gloves for 10,000 kettlebell swings challenge?

About a week into the challenge.

Did first session with no gloves but ended up getting blisters on palms.

Tried rubber gardening gloves which solved the blisters issue but grip compromised. Used some cheap lifting gloves which helped with chafing but grip is a still a struggle especially on sets of 50.

Started taking gloves off for last set which in my mind saves some wear and tear on the hands but allows better grip when fatigued.

My thought was to use gloves less - maybe only first 3 sets this week, first 2 next week etc. Hopefully this gives hands a chance to “toughen up”

Anyone else do this challenge - did you use gloves or do I just need to stop being a big baby :baby:? If so what specific gloves did you use that balanced protecting the palms and grip?

I did the challenge…in one week. It was a pretty bad idea, haha. I wore these

I ended up getting a finger swollen and calluses upon calluses, I started to chalk up and then taped my swollen finger up. I’ve used gloves in the winter when the bells were like ice and found the same that my grip was compromised so stopped wearing them.

I did a variation of the 10K Swing Challenge without gloves, hands got pretty trashed:

Summary post is here:

Later I did 25K swings in the first 50 days of 2023—also without gloves—and my hands got pretty trashed:

Not so much so in either case that I couldn’t swing or do normal daily activities, however—grip strength was always more of a problem for me than calluses, FWIW.
