I'm not saying its okay to come straight out and hate on fat people but I didn't make their body that way, he/she did. Unless you have a major medical problem, which the majority don't and claim to have, there should be no reason to be 30%+ body fat. Health is one of the biggest aspects of life and reading these gave me a good laugh. Share if you have any stories of your own.

Thing is I'm sensitive to hair loss, it runs in my family and I have been struggling the past few years to contain it.
Thing is though I'm also planning on starting my first cycle soon and realize there is a good chance I will lose it all even with hair loss treatment.

What I use currently to maintain my hair.

Lipogaine Minoxidil (a combination of 5 percent minoxidil and 5 percent azelaic acid)

Regenepure DR (A ketoconazole shampoo, similar to Nizoral but higher quality)

I don't use finasteride anymore because of it messes with my dik.

So I was wondering, if I did go bald do you guys think I could pull it off? Some guys certainly can but other guys end up looking like cancer patients.
Please, an opinion would be nice.

The Canadian weightlifting national championships are being held in Edmonton, Alberta this weekend. I think there were a couple people on here from Edmonton (or there used to be, anyways), figured I'd give a heads up on the opportunity to come down and check out some of Canada's top lifters, show some support for your fellow iron enthusiasts, make some inappropriate jokes about the snatch and clean and jerk.

There's a couple of olympians on the start list, so there should be some big numbers put up. Men's weight classes up to 105 lift Saturday, all the women and the superheavyweight men lift on Sunday. I think there's a $5 entry fee or something (apparently we're too popular so we're trying to further discourage people coming to watch by charging them to do so).
If you want some more information (schedule, start list, location [Saville Center, if I'm not mistaken]) you can find it here www.albertaweightlifting.com

Any Real Estate Investors in the House?

I remember one poster, only I cant remember who(ddmadox?), had mentioned they do this for a living and even referred me to a mentorship program but I cant for the life of me find the post so I figured I would start another one.

Background, will be turning 27 next month and from a financial standpoint I have built a baseline foundation firt. Have zero CC debt, own my home and have 15-20k equity in it. Sitting on enough cash to live off of for 4-7 months and my student loans will be gone by years end. Been maxing out my 401k since I was about 22 and have close to 30k in there. I live off of under 70% and use the other 30 to save/invest/pay off long term debt.

While right now I make good money(low 6 fig), I have a good 1-3 years window here with my comp plan to make a nice windfall at year end and I wanted to now start getting into real estate with that money. I do not want to work in the traditional sense by 30 and want to use real estate as my cash flow in order to free me up to explore entrepreneurship.

Giving myself the rest of the year to stash away some extra funds to pool in with my payout and make the leap into my first rental property. Are there any other members on here that invest in real estate and can point out some good educational material(books/audiobooks etc), mentorship programs etc?

MLB Thread: 2013

Well, pitchers and catchers have reported to Spring Training and most of the position players have also arrived. It's that time of year again!

And I think I'll start this year's thread off by pointing out exactly how flawed of a statistic WAR really is. To wit:

The Angels had a collective team WAR of 37.9, which was tops in the majors. But they finished third in their division. The pennant-winning team from the AL (Detroit) finished 23rd in the majors with a collective WAR of 13.7 and Baltimore, another postseason team, finished dead last in the majors with a collective WAR of 11.4.

To be fair, in the NL the team WARs were much more in line with where they actually finished. For instance, the team with the highest WAR in the NL was the World Champion San Francisco Giants, with a WAR of 28.9. Still, that is significantly lower than the major league-leading Angels, even though Anaheim was clearly not operating on a level anywhere near the Giants when all was said and done.

However, the Giants also had one of the top pitching staffs in baseball by any statistical measure. Except for WAR of course. Their staff's collective WAR was a mere 5.5, good for 22nd in the majors and well behind Detroit's 23.3. And we saw how much better SF's pitching staff was when squaring up against Detroit in the Series, especially when considering which staff was facing the better lineup on paper in that Series. Furthermore, Colorado had the 4th-best WAR in the NL at 14.5 yet had one of the worst staffs in the entire majors and had the league's highest ERA (5.22). Nobody who actually watched the Rockies' staff throughout the year would argue that they were anything but one of the worst collections of pitching talent in the majors. Yet they were ranked much, much higher than the vaunted SF staff in terms of WAR.

So I don't see how anyone could argue in favor of WARs alleged veracity in light of these conclusions. It's a flawed statistic at best and has little place in any sort of advanced statistical analysis of the game of baseball. There are certain advanced metrics that have some use, but WAR is simply not one of them.

GPS Tracked My Fiance

So I know this is not a good sign toward going into a marriage, but I was burned epically before and I just wanted to put my due diligence into this one. We live separately. So we're getting married in two months and I wanted to make sure there would be no surprises this time around.

So I decided to put a GPS tracker in her car, it's the kind that just logs and it's pretty accurate, it's not real time, you have to download the data off it after you retrieve it. So the first time I used it I only saw one thing that I thought was strange, she told me she went to her friends house after work and turned that persons alarm off..but the GPS tracker said she went right from the gym to this house I was unfamiliar with until midnight.

I was not happy about it and later she mentioned her friend I knew lived in that area and I thought ok, she felt bad about not coming to my house and she hung out with her girlfriends, whatever, i'm guilty of stopping by a strip club when I need stress relief after work on Fridays, which she doesn't know about, it's something I've been doing since I was 21. Mainly I just have a beer and enjoy watching the women dance. I'm not proud of it..Usually it's just for an hour.

ok so I put the tracker in the car again, didn't expect anything would result from it. I pulled it out of the car two and I see two separate days a week apart where she went to this house around 9pm or so and didn't leave until the following morning.

So I think it's possible it's her female friend and maybe they parked her car at the friends house and picked it back up in the morning after a ladies night out?

So I've been trying to figure out for sure who lives at this house short of knocking on the door. If I knock on the door and it is her friend I wouldn't know how to play it off. If it's a dude then that's a game changer.

She doesn't seem at all like a cheater, we hold hands and act like love birds. I try probing questions without trying to seem like i'm a stalker. Really i'm just trying to be careful.

I don't think she would like to know I GPS'd her....I wouldn't want to lose her over it.

I really don't know what to do...I did a lot of research on the internet, no dice.

Bounty Hunters Raid Gym

This blows my mind if the statements regarding the legal power Bounty Hunters have to enter private property are true. I wonder if there is more to the story, like they were looking for one of the Gym owners who gave consent to enter his property when he signed the bond.

Either way, not something I see every day at the gym.

Weight Loss Rant

I already know this will offend some people but I have enough caffine in me to kill a bull and I need to vent. We are doing this 'biggest loser' contest at work where everyone chips in 25$ and the winner at the end keeps the pot. Most of the people are very overweight so instead of participating I threw in 100$ of my money just for the winner to help build the incentive. Now dealing with these people everyday I have to ask this question:

Why the hell do fat people need to brag and expect applause for losing weight. Like not going from overweight to fit, going from fat to less fat. I am sorry but I dont care that you lost 15-20 lbs, you still are overweight. Why the hell should I applaud you for doing what you are supposed to do as a normal human being? They come into my office like everyday to peacock and it drives me nuts.

Then they start to feel all entitled. Got this one guy who P90Xed his way from fat to skinny fat and now I have to hear this shit: "Well i lost 60 lbs on my last diet, you do not know what that is like". Fuck you, you dont know what is like to have self control for your entire life and not get that way in the first place. I feel like fat people look at fit people and never realize that most of them are that way because of YEARS of work and discipline.

Ok, that felt better. I am not a racist, I am not a sexist or agist, but I am really a sizist it seems.

One Hundred People Versus a Bear?

A slightly bigger than normal, angry, adult, male grizzly. Wherever the grizzlies naturally live, except it's only the size of a football field. The people can be whoever you want, but no weapons. They have to fight this bear with their own selves. They may use the torn limbs of fallen friends as weapons against the bear.

I think you could get like ninety of them to surround the bear, then scare and confuse it while the rest split up. From the group of ten, two could work on poking its eyes out and then climbing on it wrap their legs around its neck to choke it, while the last eight people, hold down its legs. Two per leg.

Exercise Deficit Disorder

I recently saw this term for the first time in a newsletter from ACSM. It is being used to describe children who experience very little physical activity. I understand the need to describe the problem as it relates to the obesity issues here in the US, but calling it a disorder is a joke.

Fat, irresponsible adults can now point the finger of blame on their parents and/or this so-called disorder. I am certainly not surprised, but this represents another sad step away from encouraging people to be self-reliant and accountable where their health is concerned.

I can see the term being useful for research purposes, but our misguided medical community will allow the excuse-seeking populace to adopt it all too quickly.
They may think it will be an economic collapse, or environmental or tsunami etc.

Whether these people are slightly mental (I think they are in the sense of being paranoid) the show feeds their paranoia by rating these people at the end. They take people that are already overly paranoid and tell them where they have not prepared enough, and what they need to do and give them an estimate on how long they would survive (in months) an apocalypse.

The Trainers at My Gym

there's two trainers at my gym. Jimmy Nosleeves and Fatzi.

These are not their real names.

Jimmy Nosleeves clearly gets his mum to cut the sleeves off all his clothes. Even his jackets have no sleeves (and the guy is pretty overweight so it's not like his arms are even impressive; there's no definition between biceps/triceps). I strongly suspect it's his mum who does it, despite the fact the guy is clearly in his forties.

I see Jimmy Nosleeves training clients, and he takes them around the weights machines in the order they are arranged on the floor (there's no discernible system as to how they're laid out, just appears to be random). I have never once seen anyone go back for another session with him.

I had the misfortune of witnessing Jimmy working out once. He loaded up the pulldown as heavy as it could go and presumed to do the classic lower back jerk pulldown that's so popular amongst idiots. I was actually scared to walk past in case his flabby arms came flying out of their sockets and whacked me in the face.

Later I saw him benching in the classic "bro style" with the usual ass-6-inches-off-the-bench and only lowering the bar halfway down. Apparently he's qualified to coach the Olympic lifts. I pray I never have to see it.

Then there's Fatzi. I call her that because she's a fat Nazi. To say Fatzi is a whale is disrespectful to whales, as at least their blubber serves a purpose. Fatzi enforces the gym rules with a chunky iron fist, and has routinely scolded me for having the audacity to move the pulldown bar from the pulldown to a different cable machine (there's like 3 different handles for the pulldown, moving one does not inconvenience anyone in any way).

Fatzi is completely spherical, I'm not kidding or exaggerating, and her face is usually beetroot red from walking up the one small flight of stairs in the gym.

Fatzi takes the spin class, and it's hilarious because it looks like a manatee is trying to disrupt the Tour De France. If I were one of the people signing up for the spin class and I saw she was taking it and had done for years, I would be VERY hesitant to attend, as it clearly hasn't done shit for her.

Questions:

-Could you allow yourself to be trained by someone who was out of shape themselves?
-If you were a trainer in the gym, would you not try and stay in shape yourself?
-What are the trainers like in your gym?
