The Intelligent & Relentless Pursuit of Muscle™
Crossfit, bodybuilding, archery, darts, bowling, track & field, swimming, powerlifting, weightlifting, strongman, are all examples of contests. What defines an "athlete" is up for discussion, as there are sports and contests that can be competed in while obese, drunk, or both.
A sport requires defense. Other "sports" that do not require defense would be described as "contests." Example: Crossfit and bodybuilding competitions are contests, while a triathlete in a race is competing in a sport, as he is jockeying for position (just using the example posted below mine.) Chess, horse racing, football, baseball, lacrosse, hockey, rugby, cycling, fencing, and countless others all require defense and are thus sport, even if they are not played in front of a massive crowd.
