Chris Shugart: @corst: Dani and I -- mostly the "I" part -- killed a whole bag last night. I think it was at least 2 pounds. (I buy the bagged and cut raw kale greens, then make them into chips.)

Dan Trink: @Chris In addition, on high/moderate days you want to promote the production and use of insulin to drive muscle growth. That makes the insulinogenic quality of whey protein a good addition to a high/moderate day breakfast, a time of day when insulin sensitivity is on the higher end.

Dan Trink: @Chris Protein powders even without carbs can actually be pretty insulinogenic. I also think it is more effective, when possible, to get your calories and nutrients from whole food sources. When it comes to workout nutrition though, low carb protein protein powders(Metabolic Drive and Isopure) and high carb protein powders (Surge Recovery) can be effective.

Christopher Smith: Hey Dan why is whey protein powder recommended only on high/moderate days? Is that due to the carb content of most powders? What about low/zero carb versions (e.g. Isopure)?

Chris Shugart: Tim is adamant about drinking half the Plazma and Anaconda mixture 20 minutes or so before training to get the reactive pump. (Mixture is one liter total.) Really makes a difference. Future articles and product pages will have all the details of course.

Dan Trink: @serd Peanuts, despite the name, are actually a legume and different from other nuts like almonds and walnuts. Peanuts have some inflammatory properties and many people have an intolerance to them, something I mention in the article.

Chris Shugart: @Weevo: You could experiment with both, but it's typically one serving, which is two scoops with the new MAG-10 formula.

Chris Shugart: Interesting note about GNC: If Biotest sold Metabolic Drive there, it would run over $100 a bottle given the middle man and other expenses. It's either that or cut corners on ingredients, which Tim Patterson would never do of course. This is why most of old classic MRPs and protein supps do not contain what they used to (quality or quantity) now that they're at GNC. Sad to see EAS touting soy protein now.
