Christian Thibaudeau: @ Serge... regarding fluid shift, from experience it's not really possible to avoid some shifting to the extracellular compartment (between skin and muscle) during the day. Typically this happens about 20-60 minutes post-workout. A diet lower in sodium and higher in potassium would favor intracellular water retention but would not totally prevent shifting

Christian Thibaudeau: @coolusername: no, the jerk dip is not like the vertical jump dip. The simple fact that your torso shouldn't change angle (imagine going down back to a wall) prevents it since the hip will not go back either, even if the knee angle is the same, the ankle, hip and torso angle are different.

facko: Furthermore in regards to DNL in general in humans..it's overstated a lot by people who just so happen to think carbs are converted and stored as fats so easily. It's not an easy process for the human body and it's something the body will only do when it is forced so to speak. I.e. glycogen stores COMPLETELY full, and you eating within a caloric surplus whereby near 100% is by way of carbs only...for like 3 days straight. That's not something that resembles normal human behavior by any means

facko: cont. C. Ryan is correct that insulin sensitivity also spans fat cells. Being insulin sensitive simply means that you need a lesser amount secreted in order to signal the needed amount of GLUT translocation and thereby pull the glucose out of the bloodstream. This extends to fat cells as well as muscle cells.

facko: @jormanders74 ...A. overal energy balance is MOST important (when protein intake is accounted for and EFAs are as well) unless we are talking going from 8-10% bf to like fucking 4-5%. I.e. stage levels. B. Fructose alarmism is a joke to me...all the studies you have read about it being worse than other carbs/sugars are based upon rats. Guess what? the pathways by which rats perform DNL is much easier and more efficient than human pathways!
