To remedy this, I've written this "toolbox" series to help experienced lifters fill in the blanks and newer lifters learn about some very effective exercises.

Crack! It's the sound you never want to hear when weight training. Sometimes you feel it immediately; sometimes you sense something happen but it takes a few hours for the full impact to hit you. Either way you've injured your back. The big question is, what do you do?

For several years, I was the Watson to Strength Coach Charles Poliquin’s Sherlock Holmes. I chronicled his theories, revelations and discoveries. I like to think I played a small part in his success but in all probability, guys like Charles don’t need any help; they get famous all on their own.

Most of my epiphanies come to me at or near the witching hour, so as I stood looking at myself in the mirror last night at 1 o’clock, I came to the painful realization that there’s only one thing separating me from being totally gay.

by Christian Thibaudeau Wed, Jan 26, 2005

Recover Fast, Grow Fast! Want to gain muscle mass, strength, or power in the fastest way possible? Most male members of T-Nation have benefited from Christian Thibaudeau’s (a.k.a. "The Beast") great articles. Now, it’s time to hear from the yin to Christian’s yang, the Abercrombie to his Fitch, the Marge to his Homer. So, if you’d like to turn the lady in your life into a "beast," read on.

Junk Training
Junk Training
by Chris Shugart Mon, Jan 24, 2005

When I attend seminars, I always sit in the front row. I'm a "front row ho." Sitting in the front row keeps me riveted to the presentation and ready to suck up info. A couple of months ago I was sitting on the front row of a seminar when the speaker said something that really resonated with me. Dr. Lonnie Lowery told the audience to eliminate "junk reps" from their training.

Cardio Confusion
Cardio Confusion
by Eric Cressey Thu, Jan 20, 2005

When it comes to training purely for strength and power, it's become vogue to vehemently oppose "cardio." In light of the traditional connotation of "cardio" and "endurance training" — rubbing your ass raw on a bike for an hour — the individuals bashing such initiatives certainly have justification for their views.

I recently gave a presentation amid professors, department heads, and graduate students in the College of Physiology at the University of Arizona. Due to my exercise-based background and studies in the fields of physiology and neuroscience, I guess they figured I’d be a viable candidate to tantalize their brain cells on a Friday morning. Between my backwoods anecdotes and haphazard laser pointing, I managed to traverse their critical inquiries virtually unscathed. Now I’m ready to play professor to my constituents at T-Nation.
